Open Mics
Thursday, 14 June 2012
An Open Mic is neither a jam night, session, nor gig.
The host provides and runs the PA, performing short sets across an evening interspersed with whichever guest musicians have turned up; many open mics have a ‘featured artist’ too.
We hosted a successful weekly open mic in Buckingham for two-and-a-half years, and we currently host an open mic at the Old George Hotel in Stony Stratford running fortnightly on a Sunday evening, and another every Friday at the Rose and Crown in Newport Pagnell.
The room and audience (yes, there’s an audience, unlike many open mics) at the Old George are great. There’s no room for backline or drums - so strictly small groups who can plug in.
We love people who write and perform their own songs, but we’ll take what we can get :-)
If you’re a musician wishing to play at one of our open mics please text 07801 796216.
If you’re a venue considering an open mic, please contact us through the Enquiries page. You can find pictures of our open mics at the Previous Events pages
